The Therapod System

The Therapod concept was developed by a health professional in the 1980’s, and originally marketed as a standard back support. A combination of four adjustable straps, allied with a highly flexible back shell, results in a back support that conforms to the back shape of the user.
The re-positioning of the straps ensures that precise spinal support can be provided, whilst the more tension that is added to each strap results in the back shell curving around the user, providing lateral support.

The initial success of the standard back support, led to the development of the Therapod back insert range. This now includes a high back option, cervical (neck) support and a coccyx seat.

The Therapod back support range is available in two brush-nylon colours (blue or grey), with an optional heavy-duty cover (navy) – which is recommended for drivers who spend the majority of their day behind the wheel of their vehicle.

What is V-TEQ?

An Introduction to Visco Elastic Foam
Developed by Nasa engineers at the AMES Research Centre for G-Force pressure
relief on Space Shuttles, the foam is so technologically advanced that it has been
inducted nto the US Space Foundation's Space Technology Hall of Fame.

The open cellular structure of the V-TEQ memory foam is extremely dense, and the
spherical foam cells react to your body's shape, weigh and heat. It feels as though

Dual Density seat foam

The bodyform seat incorporates two densities of foam. The rear of the seat is 10%
softer than the front section. This has the effect of keeping the user centred and
remaining at the rear of the cushion at all times.

With the user remaining in this position, optimum contact with the Therapod back
system ensures that individual has maximized the amount of posture support
available from the chair. Further to the above, the Bodyform seat is designed to
ensure that pressure distribution is maximized. The force generated downwards
through our body, and out from our Ischial Tuberosities (sitting bones) can often
lead to uncomfortable pressure-points - in seats with poor design. This ensures
pressure is distributed evenly throughout the foam, so that comfort is maximised.

The functions of seat and back adjustments have been separated and now
are controlled with individual levers. This is ultimately easier to understand and operate.
